Colors/Patterns

Each of the following links will take you to the page of links for a specific color. Those links will take you to the patterns in that specific color. If the pattern you wish to see is not a link, then we have not received images for that pattern yet. Please feel free to submit one!

We also have a Comparison Images page, which compare two colors in one image.

Green peafowl (Pavo muticus) are a separate species from the Indian Blue (Pavo cristatus).
Green peafowl have no known mutations, only subspecies. The main three are Pavo muticus muticus, Pavo muticus spicifer, and Pavo muticus imperator.

Spalding peafowl are hybrids between the blue and green species of peafowl. Most "blues" are actually low percent Spaldings, so "Spalding" photos and info here mostly refers to mid- to high-percent Spaldings (eg: birds with a mid-to-high percentage of Green genetics or phenotype).

"Progressive Pied" is NOT a color OR pattern mutation of the Indian Peafowl. It is an autoimmune disorder called "Vitiligo" which causes pigment cell death as a side effect, and this results in spreading white patches. These birds can suffer a range of other health issues.
